Dear Valentino
Uncle Alan is a wealth of information. At least, in my eyes. He responded to my inquiries about the Strazzaboscos and Nardins, with a few very precious sentences.
Angelina Nardin, my great grandmother, was born in 1887 in Asiago Italy. She had a daughter, Rena, and emigrated to the USA aboard the Duca D'Aosta, leaving the port of Genoa March 16, 1915. Rena's name is listed on the manifest as Anizara Paganini. They arrived through Ellis Island April 1st, 1915. Angelina was 28, Rena was 3.
Her husband and why they emigrated had always been a mystery to me. Until now. Uncle Alan gave me something very important; a name.
Valentino Paganini.
The only other thing he knew was that he'd died in 1912, the same year Rena was born. I still don't know much, but I did find two ship manifests bearing his name from Asiago.
Valentino Paganini arrived in NY, NY on April 12, 1908 aboard the ship "New York" from the port of Southampton. He was 24 years old and travelling with Christina Paganini Rodighiero, aged 17, Married. Perhaps a sister?
He also arrived March 18, 1912 in NY aboard ship "Espagne" from port Le Havre. He was 28. This puts his year of birth about 1884.
So if he passed in 1912 it was sometime after March. What were his trips to the US for? I have no idea. Yet.
A search on EllisIsland.org for Paganini bears only a few, many being from Italy, but only four as being from Asiago- Valentino, Angela (Angelina), Anizara (rena), and a Paul Paganini, arriving in NY Jan 28, 1901, 25 years old, single, aboard "Graf Waldersee" from port of Hamburg. Another relative, maybe?
So many questions, so few answers.

Uncle Alan thinks Valentino is not the one I had listed above. two are shown in Asiago records:
Valentino Paganini
father: Valentino
mother: Maria Basso
born in Asiago 09/24/1887
family nickname of "Obbamaz"
Valentino Paganin
father: Antonio
mother: Domenica Strazzabosco
born in Asiago 11/21/1883
family nickname of "Sego"
Being as Valentino Paganins mother is a Strazzabosco, it is highly lickely this is the one. It also put him as the one on the ship manifests, as the birth years are only a year off and the manifests are estimated birth years.
SS City of New York
City of New York was a British built passenger liner of the Inman Line that was designed to be the largest and fastest liner on the Atlantic. When she entered service in August 1888, she was the first twin screw express liner and while she did not achieve the westbound Blue Riband, she ultimately held the eastbound record from August 1892 to May 1893 at a speed of 20.11 knots.[3] City of New York, and her sister City of Paris are considered especially beautiful ships and throughout their careers were rivals to the White Star Teutonic and Majestic. In February 1893, the Inman Line was merged into the American Line and by act of Congress, the renamed New York was transferred to the US flag. Beginning in the mid-1890s, New York and Paris were paired with St Louis and St Paul to form one of the premier Atlantic services. New York continued with the American Line until 1920 and was broken for scrap in 1923. She served the US Navy as Harvard during the Spanish American War and Plattsburg in World War I. She is also remembered for nearly colliding with the RMS Titanic as the latter ship began her doomed maiden voyage in 1912.
SS Espagne
Espagne was an 11,155 GRT ocean liner which was built in 1909 for Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. She served as atroopship during World War I and was in service until 1932, and was scrapped in 1934. Espagne was the only transatlantic ocean liner built by Chantiers & Ateliers de Provence. Launched in 1909, she was completed in October 1910.[1] Her port of registry was Le Havre and the Code Letters OGPR were allocated.[2]
SS Duca D'Aosta
SS Duca d'Aosta was an Italian ocean liner for Navigazione Generale Italiana named after one of the Dukes of Aosta. Launched in 1908, she sailed between Italy and New York and South America for most of her career. During World War I she was employed as a troopship carrying United States troops to France as part of the United States Navy Cruiser and Transport Force. She was scrapped in 1929.
SS Graf Waldersee
Built in 1899 by Blohm and Voss, Hamburg, Germany
Acquired by the Navy and commissioned 28 December 1918 at Spithead, England
Decommissioned 25 November 1919 at Stapleton, NY and returned to the United States Shipping Board
Ceded to Great Britian in 1920 and managed by the P & O Line
Sold for scrap in 1922 to Kohlbrand Werft, Hamburg.
